On May 28, during the LOGIN conference, Lithuanian startup Astrolight won the regional final of the Startup World Cup in Lithuania. This victory secures the company a place in the global finals in Silicon Valley, USA, later this autumn, where it will represent Lithuania on the world stage. Competing against the strongest startup teams from more than 100 countries, Astrolight will also have the opportunity to compete for a $1 million investment prize offered by Pegasus Tech Ventures.
Astrolight develops high-speed laser communication technologies designed to connect Earth and space, enabling new possibilities in satellite communications and deep-space exploration.
A total of ten startups pitched their ideas at the Startup World Cup regional final, organized by Sunrise Tech Park, the event’s main organizer. This year’s finalists represented a diverse range of innovations, spanning artificial intelligence, space technologies, robotics, energy, sustainability, and longevity solutions. According to the organizers, this diversity once again highlights the growing maturity of the region’s startup ecosystem and its ability to compete successfully in international markets.
The startups were evaluated by an international panel of judges, including Karolina Urbonaitė (Startup Lithuania), Roberta Rudokienė (LitBAN), Evaldas Pabrėža (Integrated Optics), Andrius Milinavičius (BSV Ventures), Liina Liiv (Ekspress Grupp), and Karolis Mirinavičius (Ignitis Group).
The event also featured Martin Tantow, Partner at Pegasus Tech Ventures, investor, startup mentor, and board member with extensive experience supporting technology companies worldwide. At LOGIN, he not only joined the judging panel in evaluating startup pitches but also delivered a keynote presentation, “The Fastest Way to Build a Unicorn,” where he shared insights into global investment trends, emerging technology markets, and the key qualities international investors are looking for today.
The Startup World Cup takes place in more than 100 countries and annually brings together some of the world’s most promising technology startups, investors, and innovation leaders. Following its regional victory, Astrolight will now advance to the global finals in Silicon Valley, where it will compete alongside the world’s leading startups.
